Plants can't move around like animals, but they can grow toward light. You can test this yourself with a plant at home! ๐Ÿงช What you'll need * ๐ŸŒฑ A small potted plant * ๐Ÿ“ฆ A cardboard box * โœ‚๏ธ Scissors * โ˜€๏ธ A sunny window * ๐Ÿ“ A ruler ๐Ÿ”ฌ Try it at home! 1. Make the box Cut a small hole in one side of the cardboard box. 2. Add the plant Put the plant inside the box. Make sure the hole is facing a sunny window. 3. Wait Leave the box near the window for 3โ€“5 days. Try not to move it. 4. Check your plant Look at it each day. Is it growing straight, or is it bending toward the hole? 5. Record your results Use a ruler to measure the plant each day and write down what you notice. ๐Ÿ‘€ What will happen? After a few days, you may see the plant bending toward the light! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ This is called phototropism. It's a plant's way of responding to light as it grows.
